About the Work

There must be a great number of discarded Kodak slides at universities across the country, shoved into storage boxes, thrown out, or left in carousels collecting dust. In art and art history departments, these slides once held a lot of power in how art was dispensed to college students who, more often than not, would never see the original or any other reproduction of the work. Since then, artwork is available to anyone with an internet connection, and the selected few images projected in classrooms have much less power today.

Working with the cyanotype process and projected light, I have recorded educational color slides dating back to the 1970’s, and categorized them by artist/photographer. Each cyanotype is 22×30 inches, approximately 30 completed works.
